OPENING LINKS ON WEB SITE
It has been brought to my attention that some of you have been having difficulties opening certain links on this website. It is really just a matter of finding the program in your computer that will open it.
Please follow the instructions below, this might be able to solve the problem.
- You must save the file to your desktop
- Once it is saved, right click on the icon
- Click on "open with"
- A list of programs should appear
- Choose programs one by one from the list until it opens the file.
I have tried to choose a program that is universal, but then someone else tells me they cannot open them now, when they could before. If the file is something you absolutely need and the coaches or board members are unavailable to answer your question/s. Please feel free to email me at kellyferensic@ndhbl.com and I will see what I can do.

- FUNDRAISERS - these are very important to our league and we do appreciate everyone's participation. Fundraisers are a good way to keep the cost of registration down, help with field maintenance, equipment, uniform and to offset some of the high costs that go along with maintaining this league. The more money we can raise, the more we will have to offer. Here are some of the fundraisers that we are participating this year.
- Golf outing - I do hope that we have better participation this year.
- Raffle tickets - there is a change in raffle tickets this year, check back for details.
- Family picnic - was a total success in 2008, I hope everyone had fun!
- Spirit Fest - FUN! New additions to menu this year!
- EVALUATION DAY - we do encourage all children attend evaluation day. This is the best way to ensure that all players are fairly placed on a team and that the team will be competitive with the others. (see calendar for dates and times). You will notice the times are broken down by divisions. If your childs division is not listed, those players will be assigned a team and the coach will contact you. We CANNOT promise that friends will be on the same team, but we do promise that siblings will be, if they are in the same division. If a player is late to register or did not show for evaluation day, that player will be placed on a team where needed, by the board members. Also, there will be seperate evaluations for pitchers this year, again, to ensure that all teams are equally competitive with each other.
- TOURNAMENT TEAMS - We are also striving to enter into more tournaments this year. The players had such a great time last year at the tournaments that we are looking for more. Attention: Please keep in mind, for those that have chosen to place their child in the division above their age bracket, this is a warning, that child will be eliminated from playing tournament games. Tournament games are strict when it comes to ages, even if the child is younger. Also, your child will not be able to drop back down a division just to play in a tournament, the rules state that the child must have played in a certain amount of games with that particular division. There are no exceptions.
SPORTSMANSHIP - PLEASE READ
Parents sign a parent conduct agreement and players sign a player conduct agreement. The parent and player must sign their agreement at time of registration. You may view and print these agreements by clicking on the above links. (you must save to desktop before you can open them). You may also view a list of unacceptable conduct. These agreements are to ensure that our children remain safe and practice good sportsmanship. This is one thing the league takes seriously, so we do appreciate your cooperation. There will be concequences for those who do not abide by the conduct agreements.
TOP 3 REASONS KIDS QUIT SPORTS
- Too much emphasis on winning.
- Parents take the game to seriously.
- The coach has a negative atitude.
Our children choose to play sports to have fun and that is the way it should be. Sure, all parents want their children to do well and perform to the best of their abilities, but even our best intentions are often what lead to an incident of poor sportsmanship. Please parents, we are their role models, we teach our children the skills to play, whether they use that skill again in their adult life, is up to them. It's the lessens we choose to teach, through our own actions, in sportsmanship and fair play, that will last a lifetime!! Please pay close attention to the bullet points below, because we are all guilty of them to a certain extent.
- RESIST SHOUTING INSTRUCTIONS - Let the coaches do their jobs. If both the coach and the parent are giving instructions, it gets frustrating to the child. If you have an idea or you would do it differently, get out there and volunteer your time. The coaches are always willing to accept new ideas and certainly appreciate the extra help. If you don't have time to volunteer, that is not the coaches fault, they are doing the their best and lets not forget, it is all volunteer and no pay!
- LEAVE THE OFFICIALS ALONE - Referees and umpires are only human, lets face it, they do make mistakes. These mistakes always don't go our way, but should be respected none the less. Criticism of an official shows a lack of respect for authority. It also puts a very ugly focus on the game and shows very poor sportsmanship.
- RESPECT YOUR CHILD'S TEAMMATES AND THE OPPOSING TEAM - Good coaches always try to teach their players to respect their teammates and their opponents. Parents, players and coaches should congratulate the other team after a win or a loss. Applause should be given for any child, no matter whose team he or she plays for.
- HELP KIDS COPE WITH OUTBURSTS - When another coach or parent loses their composure, explain to your child how this adult must have forgotten that sports are SUPPOSE TO BE FUN. If you feel another parent, coach or player is being unsportsman-like and out of control, wait until things calm down, then let a league official know and they will talk to that person in a private nonthreatening manner. This way our children are safe and do not have to witness a confrontation that may escalate into something ugly or frightening. We do not want to teach our children that these types of behaviors or actions are at all acceptable.
- FINISH WHAT YOU START - It is very important, at a young age, that every child learn to finish what they start. If your child is having a hard time with his/her team, or is having difficulties with the game itself, please ask for additional assistance from the coach. If that fails, email Kelly (President) at kellyferensic@ndhbl.com. Honestly, we will find the time to work with your child and make playing baseball an enjoyable sporting experience. The worst thing you can do, is to let your child give up!
Here are a couple websites that may help define good and bad sportmanship. The sites also contain good tips for our coaches.
We appreciate all your cooperation and understanding. Lets make the 2009 season a rememberable one for all the good reasons.
Thank you,
NDHBL Board of Directors
